5 lentil meals that give you life

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us". This little light of mine. I'm gonna let it shine! Need that burger in your life that will give you life? 5 meals you can make with lentils.

5 lentil meals that give you life.

•1. Lentil burgers - Lentil burgers are great when done correctly. They can be a staple for anyone ready to fully commit to being a vegan. When done correctly, you can even freeze and throw them on a grill and now you have your first dish for a Vegan bbq.

•2. Nachos - Come on who doesn't love nachos? With lentils as the base and your favorite taco seasoning, nachos will command attention in any room that you are in. Throw your chips as the bottom layer. Your second coat will be your lentils. Top with guacamole, splash on some salsa, hit it with raw onions and tomatoes. Coat the top with your favorite nut cheese and garnish with cilantro.

•3. Chimichangas - Chimichangas will solidify you as a Vegan chef. Before you go to the taco truck bring it to yourself. Chimichanga (fried burrito) will make you ask yourself why you haven't thought of this before.

•4. Chilli Cheese Fries - Like the nachos the chili cheese fries will send out and smell and grab people by the nostrils and pull them your direction faster than Pepé Le Pew chasing after a female. Substitute your kidney beans for lentils and watch as the people close to you go nuts.

•5. Lentils over Rice - Beans, and rice are an American staple and have been for years. Creole people prefer cajun rice or dirty rice. An ethnic idea, one can prepare their lentils as they would red beans. Substitute your red beans for lentils and have lentil beans over wild rice! A combination that will leave people floored.

Clean lentils and veggies. Place lentils, onion, bell pepper, spices, and water in a pot (with a lid). Bring beans up to a rolling boil making sure as to not let any water boil over. The added salt will raise the boiling temperature of the water. Let it boil for 5 mins in covered on high. Place lid on and let it continue to boil on high for another 5 - 8 mins.
Turn heat down to medium-high for an hour. Lift Lid sparingly, only to stir the beans. Turn to medium-low after an hour. This is an accelerated way to make beans cook faster. Once the beans are done remove from heat and let cool. Once beans are cooled drain any excess water. Beans need to be as dry as possible for it to hold.
Place beans in a large bowl or mixing dish. Add the bread crumbs. *If to wet to hold add more bread crumbs and or baking powder*. Add oil and mix. Add another round of spices, mix all until it is fully incorporated, form into patties in your hand. The mixture should still be semi-moist. After a patty is formed place spelt flour on both sides. Coat the bottom of a nonstick skillet with oil. *Oil is a must it will not cook properly without it*. Cook on medium to medium-high.
Cook one side of the patty for 5 to 8 mins or until you can move freely without worry of it falling apart. Do not mash. Flip and let the other side cook until done as well. Take off and let cool. It will take longer than a usual burger to cool. Top with your favorite condiment and take your time before you eat.
